How to set up sign-in options for parents and staff on the web app

The sign-in kiosk is any iOS or Android phone or tablet, with a front-facing camera and the Daily Connect application installed, that is placed at your facility’s entrance, for parents to sign-in and sign-out. 


The sign-in page can also be opened on any staff or classroom device. This feature enables you to keep track of when a child is brought to and picked up from your facility. This information is recorded in attendance reports. 


In this article we will cover:

  • Setting up touchless sign-in for parents via QR Code

  • Setting up pin code sign-in for parents

  • Changing a parent’s pin code

  • Setting up pin code sign-in for teachers

  • Changing a teacher’s pin code

  • Setting up the sign-in kiosk



Follow the steps below to set up QR-Code sign-in for parents:

This touchless option allows a parent to sign their child in/out, by simply tapping the Sign In/Out button on their app, then scan the code on the sign-in device at the entrance of your facility or on a staff device.


  1. Go to Settings Childcare Settings Sign-In Kiosk


  1. Check the box next to Touchless sign-in (via QR Code). 


  1. You can request a parent's signature by activating this option on the Sign-In Kiosk page.


NOTE: Touchless sign-in is only available on iOS and Android devices. Make sure the Daily Connect application is updated on each device to the latest available version.



Follow the steps below to set up Pin code sign-in for parents:

This allows parents to enter their unique 4-digit pin code on the sign-in device or on a staff device to sign their child in and out of your facility. This will be recorded as a Sign-In or Sign-Out entry on the child’s timeline. 


  1. Go to Settings Childcare Settings Sign-In Kiosk



  1. Check the box next to Pin Code sign-in for parents


  1. Select OK when you are prompted to approve the generating of a pin code for all parents. 



  1. To send an email to all parents with their pin code, select Send email now. You can view all pin codes on the Parents page.



  1. Choose how parents receive their pin codes:

  • Administrator manually generates and sends pin code from Parents page

  • Pin codes are automatically generated and emailed to parents as soon as they're added on a child profile.




Follow the steps below to change a parent’s pin code:

  1. Go to Settings Childcare Settings Parents.



  1. Select the change pin code button next to the parent’s name.

  1. Enter the new pin code or select Generate Unique Code to allow the system to create one for you. 



  1. Select Check Availability to ensure that the pin code is not already in use. 



  1. Select Save. 



  1. Next, select the Email Pin Code button below the parents name to send them their new pin code. 

            


Follow the steps below to set up Pin code sign-in for teachers

  1. Go to Settings > Childcare Settings Sign-in Kiosk 


  1. Activated the 'Pin Code sign-in for teachers' option.

The list of pin codes for teachers can be found on the Teachers page.

 

NOTE: If a teacher is logged into the app with their personal account, they can also use touchless sign-in by tapping on the Sign-in/out button on the app home page, then on the 'Display QR Code for the sign-in kiosk' button.





Follow the steps below to change a teacher’s pin code

  1. Go to Settings Childcare Settings Teachers.



  1. Select the change pin code button next to the teacher’s name. 


  1. Enter the new pin code or select Generate Unique Code to allow the system to create one for you. 



  1. Select Check Availability to ensure that the pin code is not already in use. 



  1. Select Save. 



  1. Next, select the Email Pin Code button to send them their new pin code. 





Follow the steps below to set up the Sign-in kiosk

A sign-in kiosk device is required for this. A tablet or smartphone positioned at an entrance to your facility is recommended. 


  1. Using your sign-in kiosk’s device, log into your childcare center’s account. 



  1. Select the Sign In/Out menu at the top-right of the web app homepage.

      


  1. To secure your device, prevent parents from going to the home page and potentially accessing private information, select Screen unlocked, tap to lock.
