Learning feature: Reporting on a child’s progress and development

Daily Connect enables teachers to prepare lesson plans and facilitate parent-teacher conferences with unique digital portfolios for every child. These digital portfolios allow you to view each child’s work and notes on their developmental milestones. 

By logging lesson plans and activities digitally, you can always go back and update the curriculum in the future. You can also review each child’s learning process and compare it to previous weeks using Daily Connect’s easy to read visual display of each child's progress. 


Follow the instructions below to access lesson plans.


  1. On the Daily Connect web app, go to Settings Childcare Settings > Lesson Plans.


  1. Select Create Lesson Plan.


  1. Enter course details, .i.e. Name and description. Then, select Save. 


  1. Check box to Link to Learning Framework.


Alternatively:

  • You can also select your Learning Framework under, Settings Childcare Settings > Learning Framework.

  • Framework set here will apply to all classrooms. 

  • Choose 'custom' to set a different framework for each classroom. To specify each classroom framework independently, go to Settings > Customize labels > Observation.

  • The Learning Framework is used in the Observation section of the application.


Follow the instructions below to view Lesson Plans:

  1. Go to Settings Childcare Settings > Lesson Plan.

  2. Select your lesson plan under Title.


Follow the instructions below to add courses:

You can add additional courses to an already existing lesson plan.

1. Select preferred Lesson plan under Title.


2. Scroll down to the bottom, and select Add Course.

  • You also have options to, .i.e., Edit or Delete Learning Framework, and Add Location.

  • Select Save.


3. Select Location link to add location.

  • These courses will be registered on your calendar to help you keep track of the learning schedule.

  • The lesson plan also links well with the assessment report. 

  • This helps teachers cater to each child's assessment needs, according to Calendar reports.

Assessment Reports:

The assessment report is a summary of the Learning Framework. It allows teachers to monitor children’s individual and group progress through chart systems.


Follow the instructions below to access group and individual assessment reports

  1. To access the Assessment report, go to Settings Childcare Settings > Assessment report.  


  1. To view the group assessment report of a specific class, select that class from the drop-down menu. 


  1. Use the From and To fields to specify the period for which assessments should be displayed.


  1. To view the assessment report of a specific child, select Individual Assessment Report.

Other features in Assessment Reports include:

  • Color-coded individual assessment reports help you track group progress or individual progress through the 

  • Color-coded track system. i.e., Not Observed, Not assessed.

  • The Assessment Wheel Report is divided into different subcategories. 

  • A general overview of the Learning Framework through a chart.



Accessing the assessment count by domain:


  1. To access the Assessment count by domain, go to Settings Childcare Settings > Assessment count by domain.  


  1. Use the From and To fields to specify the period for which the assessment count should be displayed.



 List Observations 

  1. To access the Assessment count by domain, go to Settings Childcare Settings > List Observations.


  1. To view the group assessment report of a specific class, select that class from the drop-down menu. 


  1. To view observations for a specific child, select the child’s name from the list.


  1. Use the Year and Month fields to specify the month for which observations should be displayed.



The assessment reports can be used to assist with creating lesson plans to help children develop specific skills.
